After the Rams-Lions wild-card playoff game on Sunday night, Kelly Stafford

says her 5-year-old daughter “started crying on the field” due to the abuse their family received from some fans at Ford Field.

The wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford claimed on Tuesday’s episode of

her weekly podcast that she and their four daughters, who range in age from three to six, encountered loud jeers from

the stands while attempting to make their way between sidelines on the field prior to kickoff.

I had to give my two daughters an explanation. On the field, Hunter began to cry, according to Kelly Stafford. But

this isn’t the case for everyone. These are the fans with the loudest voices. But that is the realm of sports.

Before being traded to the Rams after the 2020 season, Matthew Stafford spent 12 seasons as the quarterback for the Lions. The Lions were still waiting for their first

postseason victory since 1992, even though Stafford went on to win the Super Bowl in his first season in Los Angeles.

After leaving to much fanfare in Detroit, Stafford was treated differently on Sunday as the head of the other team in the Lions’ first postseason game in thirty years.

Kelly Stafford claimed that on Sunday night, she had a pre-game visit on the field with Lions owner and chair

emeritus Martha Firestone Field, after which she and the children attempted to cross over to the Rams side of the field.

That’s when the Lions fans started treating them rudely, according to Stafford.

Stafford took to Instagram the day following the Rams’ season-ending defeat

to criticize “the fans who booed my children.” However, Stafford later acknowledged on her podcast that this

wasn’t quite the case and that she had immediately explained it to her daughters

I saw it as an opportunity to teach my kids.” Hunter is crying, you know that,” she remarked. “Guys, they’re not booing

you,” I responded. Your sisters are not being booed by them. We need to move past the things that have happened in the
