Quinshon Judkins made three audacious predictions far too soon after transferring to Ohio State football.

With a new roster for the upcoming campaign, the Ohio State football team hopes to build on its 2023–2024 success.

Despite losing to Michigan and Missouri in the final stretch and falling short of their ultimate goals, the Buckeyes accomplished a lot of positive things that

could signal a trip to the College Football Playoffs the following season, when a 12-team field will take center stage.

Following the transfer of quarterback Will Howard from Kansas State, three much too early predictions for the Ohio

State football team were made. It was revealed who would take over as athletic director from Gene Smith.

Judkins finished the previous season with 15 touchdowns for the Ole Miss

Rebels, who finished 11-2 after defeating Penn State, a dominant team in the Big Ten, in the Peach Bowl.

In light of that, the following three projections regarding Judkins’s position in Howard and Coach Ryan Day’s offense in 2024:

1. Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson Will Put Up a One-two Punch: Since he started

turning heads while wearing an Ole Miss uniform, Judkins has been regarded as one of the country’s best running backs.

Throughout the season, he amassed over 1,100 yards at an average of 4.3 yards per carry in the difficult and competitive Southeastern Conference.

TreVeyon Henderson, an Ohio State holdover, led the Buckeyes in yards per carry last season with an astounding average of 5.9.

Henderson and Judkins are expected to compete for the starting position this spring.

Expect Judkins to get more carries than Henderson and be the team’s workhorse. Henderson received 156 carries last season, while Judkins received 271.

Henderson won’t have to carry the weight all the time; instead, he can be the

“hammer in the bullpen” that Ohio State needs to defeat opponents with difficult yards and big plays.

2. Judkins Will Take OSU to the Playoffs: With just one new Big 10 opponent from the Pac-12, Oregon, Ohio State has an easy schedule.

Ohio State football’s game against the Ducks will take place at Autzen Stadium. It won’t be simple

The Buckeyes should be favorites in most, if not all, of their games this season with Judkins, Henderson, and recent

addition Will Howard in the mix. This includes their home finale against the Michigan Wolverines

Compared to Kyle McCord from the previous season, Howard, a bruising 6-

foot-5 dual threat quarterback, will give opposing defenses a lot more to consider. Last season, the running game for the

Buckeyes was ranked 87th in the country. With the two newcomers in Coach Day’s backfield, expect a significant improvement.

3. Judkins, a native of Pike Road, Alabama, will split carries with Howard,

Henderson, and other players in the upcoming season. He will be a high round draft pick after that.

Ohio State football has a great chance to contend for and possibly win the Big Ten

championship in 2024–2025 with Emeka Egbuka returning for his senior year.

In the past week, Michigan football’s national championship-winning squad

lost a number of important players to the NFL and the transfer portal.

The Wolverines have a lot of talent back, particularly on defense, but the Buckeyes

are capable of turning “The Game” back into a fierce competition and might be the favorite to win in Columbus.

Judkins will play a significant role in the Buckeyes’ accomplishments prior to his departure for the National Football League in 2025.

For this coming season, Coach Day has assembled a running attack that could be

unstoppable, using Michigan’s recent championship as a model.

Based on his talent, work ethic, and background among other things, Judkins

should be considered in the second, if not first, round of the NFL draft after the 2020–21 season
