Latest news:‘He will be fired up’: Andy Walker says Celtic star will explode during second half of the season

Andy Walker explains why Japan’s Kyogo Furuhashi snub is ‘really good news’ for Celtic

Over the holiday season, Celtic received mixed news—Kyogo Furuhashi was

passed over by Japan—and positive news.

The Celtic teammates Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate are competing for their

countries in the Asian Cup, but their clubmate was left off the roster.

Kyogo Furuhashi will be “fired up” as a result of everything, according to Andy

Walker on Go Radio, with domestic action starting again after the Christmas break.

On Sunday, Brendan Rodgers’ team will host

Buckie Thistle of the Highland

Football League at Parkhead, with Celtic’s top player likely to start up front.

This is the 29-year-old’s opportunity to express himself fully and show Hajime

Moriyasu that he was wrong to leave him out of the team after Japan’s shocking loss to Iraq on Friday.

Whilst fans will be disappointed for Kyogo Furuhashi that he didn’t get

picked, it means that he remains fresh and ready for the second half of the campaign.

And Andy Walker is backing the multiple derby day hero to explode during these

coming months by proving why he is the best in the country.

Kyogo FuruhashI after Japan snub

“I think it’s really good news that Kyogo isn’t in Japan,” said Walker. “I think the

way he played against Rangers showed you that he has still got exceptional qualities.

“He scored a goal that was simply amazing. the absence of any

international games for him to play. He should be motivated to give Celtic his all,

in my opinion. I believe he still has more to give.

“The previous season, he was excellent. He hasn’t quite attained those peaks, in

my opinion. Thus, it’s possible that the Celtics and Kyogo will both show

significant improvement in the second half of the season.

Kyogo Furuhashi’s form

From his 22 Scottish Premiership games this season, he only has eight goals to his

name. It’s certainly a drop-off from his usual high standards.

It should be mentioned, nevertheless, that he scored twice in the Champions

League and the winning goal both at home and away against Rangers.

Kyogo has proven his worth by stepping up when it counted most.

And everyone in Scotland knows very well that the title will only go in one

direction if the Japanese celebrity steps it up in the upcoming months.
