Transfer update: incredible player Reveals Bold Take On 2019 Clippers-Thunder Trade

Paul George Reveals Bold Take On 2019 Clippers-Thunder Trade

Paul George, a standout player for the Los Angeles Clippers, recently led his team to a 128-117 victory over the

Oklahoma City Thunder with a season-high 38 points. The Thunder sold the

eight-time All-Star to Los Angeles in exchange for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander,

Danilo Gallinari, multiple first-round selections, and pick swaps after he spent

two NBA seasons playing in Oklahoma City from 2017 to 2019.

George informed Farbod Esnaashari of Sports Illustrated following his

masterclass on January 16 that the Clippers and Thunder had prevailed in

the 2019 blockbuster transaction that moved George to the City of Angels.

“I just think both sides won,” George said. “I did think it had quite a lot that

the Clippers were willing to give up. Their commitment to me is my commitment to them.”

Gilgeous-Alexander suffered a rare off night as he scored a quiet 19 points on 6-

16 shooting with a team-worst plus-minus of -19. The Canadian combo guard also shot 0-3 from beyond the arc.

Despite his lackluster performance, SGA is still on track for his second straight All-

NBA First Team selection. He has made a legitimate case for league MVP this

season, leading the Thunder to a 27-13 record and the No. 2 seed in the Western

Conference. The former Clipper has averaged 31 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.3

assists on a ridiculous 55.2% clip from the field.

It goes without saying that OKC supporters cannot be dissatisfied with the team they have assembled around

SGA since obtaining him almost five years ago. Fans of the Clippers shouldn’t

be too hard on themselves either, considering the excellent season they

have had with a largely healthy roster. It’s likely that Kawhi Leonard would not

have joined the Clippers in the first place if George hadn’t moved to Los Angeles.

George, who averages 23.9 points and 5.5 rebounds right now, expressed appreciation for where his career is at

right now. The 33-year-old future Hall of Famer has avoided injuries throughout

the season and is relishing every second of his continuing basketball career.

George said to Esnaashari, “I just love where I’m at in my career and where I’m at in this point in my life.”

This season, PG-13 has been incredibly effective with his long-range shooting, setting a career-high 42.1% three-point percentage. George has also increased the number of his 3-pointers made (8.7 per game) since joining the Clippers.

Since acquiring James Harden, Los Angeles has become a strong candidate for the championship. The Clippers have won 23 of their past 30 games, demonstrating a complete turnaround from their 3–7 start to the season. The Clippers’ possibilities are endless if George and his elite colleagues can maintain their health throughout the postseason.
