Enzo Maresca blow hot on Jamie Vardy Future as striker is set for exit

Jamie Vardy, who is currently 37 years old, has been a key member of Enzo

Maresca’s team this season, but it is unclear if he will stay past the end of the campaign.

After the Foxes were relegated, the seasoned forward, who has played frequently for England, would have expected to be involved. However, given

the other options Maresca has, he cannot take a starting position for granted when it is offered

Kelechi Iheanacho is one of those other options; he has excelled at the highest

level and, when healthy, could be a great asset to the Midlands team.

It is unfortunate for Tom Cannon and Patson Daka that they have missed a

significant portion of the season due to injuries, as both players can be valuable assets in the Championship.

Cannon joined the team in the summer along with several other elite players,

and during his loan stint at Preston North End in the second half of the previous campaign, he demonstrated

that he could succeed in the second division. His efforts at Deepdale earned him a move to the King Power Stadium.

All four of their strikers have earned playing time, but it’s unclear how their

striker group will appear at the beginning of the following season given

Vardy’s age, Iheanacho’s contract situation (which expires in 2024), and their prior interest in Daka

Vardy intends to play on even after he turns forty, and he currently has no plans to retire, according to the Daily Mail.

Since he is currently 37 years old, the former England international might still have three or four more years to play.

The same source claims that the “ideal scenario” would be for Leicester to win

the Premier League the first time around and for the forward to stay with the team the following season.
