The Falcons won’t rush to the altar to make the union official just because they

showed a lot of interest in Bill Belichick during their head coaching search.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Falcons plan to interview former Titans

coach Mike Vrabel and Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh next week, in addition to speaking with Texans offensive

coordinator Bobby Slowik on Sunday. The search for Atlanta’s next head coach is reportedly “wide open.”

Following a different report from Saturday claiming that Falcons owner Arthur Blank “desperately” wants

Belichick to coach in Atlanta the following season, Schefter’s report was released.

The insider noted that Belichick has not yet interviewed with another team, so there is a “50-50” chance he would accept the position

The Falcons fired head coach Arthur Smith earlier this month following three losing seasons, and as of Sunday,

Belichick is the only applicant who is known to have had two interviews with the team.

The first meeting happened on Blank’s yacht close to the U.S. Virgin Islands, and

the second meeting allegedly happened in Atlanta, where Belichick arrived on the owner’s private jet.

However, Harbaugh will have his second interview with the team early next week.

The Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, the 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, the Panthers

defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, the Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, and the Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn have all

completed their initial head coach interviews, the Falcons announced in addition to Belichick and Harbaugh.

As Baltimore gets ready to host the AFC Championship game on Sunday, interviews have also been conducted

with defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald of the Ravens and assistant head coach/defensive line coach Anthony Weaver.

Belichick, 71, may decide against taking a year off in 2024 and hoping to return to coaching in 2025, despite some people’s speculation to the contrary

Belichick may stay an NFL coach because he is just 15 wins away from surpassing

former head coach of the Ravens and Dolphins Don Shula’s record of 347 regular-season and postseason victories.
