Leeds outsmart competitors to sign their top target

According to sources who spoke with Football Insider, Hull City and Luton

Town are in advanced discussions about a possible loan agreement for Ryan Giles.

It’s thought that the talks are primarily focused on a short-term initial

agreement with a purchase obligation at the conclusion

However, Hull is now in a strong position to reach an agreement before the massive Yorkshire club.

The left-back has made only sporadic appearances for Rob Edwards’ team in the Premier League this year.

In the 2023–24 campaign, Giles has made 14 appearances in all competitions, seven of which have been as a starter.

He was only permanently transferred from Wolves to Luton in the summer of 2023, but he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a mainstay in the Hatters’ starting lineup.

Alfie Doughty’s string of strong performances in the top flight has prevented Giles from being included in the squad.

Giles, however, has experience playing at the Championship level. During the previous season, he made 48 appearances while on loan at Middlesbrough, scoring 12 assists.

In total, he has made 119 appearances in the second division while playing for Boro, Blackburn, Cardiff, Rotherham, and Coventry.

So far this month, Hull City has completed the signings of Billy Sharp, Fabio Carvalho, and Ivor Pandur.

With new players, the Tigers, who currently occupy seventh place in the standings, hope to strengthen their postseason prospects.
