The Whites haven’t added a new left-back, so Leeds United’s hunt will likely get more intense between now and the
end of the month. However, West Ham might be about to make us regret our decision.
In the previous games, Junior Firpo has shown promise, and Sam Byram is also healthy. However, injuries are a known
concern for both players, and Byram’s contract is up in the summer. He’d be thrilled to sign another one.
Firpo has also been connected to the exit door. Leeds needs a left-back, and since Leif Davis of Ipswich is so good at
Portman Road, he will undoubtedly have been taken into consideration by those at Elland Road this month.
Naturally, the left-footer was at Elland Road for four years, from 2018 to 2022. However, he only played in 14 senior
games for Leeds. 18 months ago, he moved to Ipswich and has since become a star for the Tractor Boys.
Obviously, at this point in time, Ipswich will never do business with Leeds.
However, West Ham of the Premier League wants Davis, according to The Football League Paper (January 21, page 8).
Leeds must undoubtedly match any bid made by West Ham for Davis if they decide to pursue him before the transfer
window closes. Yes, it shows that we acknowledge our error, but Davis is arguably the best left back in the league.
Money talks, so even though Ipswich won’t want to give Davis to Leeds, the
Whites need to at least challenge any offer made by West Ham. Davis is the ideal left flank addition for January.
