Where Auburn’s 2024 signees ranked in the final Top247

Some risers and fallers in Auburn’s class as the 2024 rankings are finalized.

While Ryan Williams’s recruitment remains intense leading up to the February signing period, both the high school season and the post-season All-Star competitions have concluded. With that, 247Sports wrapped up the 2024 class on Monday by releasing the Top247’s last update.

The Top247 is a ranking of the nation’s top 247 recruits provided by 247Sports. It

contributes to the creation of the 247Sports Composite, which considers

each player’s ranking across all websites, together with other industry rankings.

See which Auburn signees cracked the final Top247 rankings:

WR CAM COLEMAN

Previous ranking: No. 8

New ranking: No. 5

Already on campus and going through winter workouts, a dominant showing at Under Armour All-America practice helps vault Cam Coleman up a few spots. He is the highest-ranked signee in Auburn history in the 247Sports rankings.

EDGE AMARIS WILLIAMS

Previous ranking: No. 34

New ranking: No. 30

Another early enrollee already in school, Amaris Williams bumps up a few spots. That also bumps him into 5-star status as things come to a close. After his appearance in the All-American Bowl, 247Sports has him projected as an edge now.

WR PERRY THOMPSON

Previous ranking: No. 26

New ranking: No. 38

A slight dip in the rankings moves Perry Thompson outside of 5-star status in the 247Sports rankings, but still keeps him inside the Top-40 and wide receiver No. 8 in the country.

QB WALKER WHITE

Previous ranking: No. 97

New ranking: No. 41

A huge bump for Walker White after his showing at the All-American Bowl. Already tabbed highly as a toolsy quarterback by 247Sports, White was the best of the bunch in San Antonio and flashed those tools all week long to surge up the rankings.

LB DEMARCUS RIDDICK

Previous ranking: No. 55

New ranking: No. 69

Some shifting around for Demarcus Riddick, who played in the All-American Bowl after going through Music City Bowl practices for Auburn. He’s now going through winter workouts and officially an Auburn freshman.

EDGE JAMONTA WALLER

Previous ranking: No. 73

New ranking: No. 105

Jamonta Waller slides outside of the Top-100. He was slated to be in the Under Armour All-America Game, but ended up dropping out. He’s now on campus and preparing for his freshman season.

EDGE JOSEPH PHILLIPS

Previous ranking: No. 123

New ranking: No. 135

The Booker T. Washington (Ala.) product was another bowl practice participant and is already at Auburn. It’s worth noting that while Joseph Phillips is listed by 247Sports as an edge, he practiced as a linebacker and looks set to start his career there.

WR MALCOLM SIMMONS

Previous ranking: No. 157

New ranking: No. 150

A little bump up for Malcolm Simmons after his strong senior season. Since then, he’s gotten back on the basketball court for Benjamin Russell (Ala.) and has already won some track events this spring. He will enroll in the spring.

WR BRYCE CAIN

Previous ranking: No. 158

New ranking: No. 151

Ranked right next to Simmons last update, the two stay attached at the hip as Bryce Cain remains one spot behind him. The speedy slot receiver went through bowl practices and is set to try and work his way into the receiver rotation as a freshman.

QUICK HITTERS

*** After reclassifying, Ryan Williams originally slotted in at No. 14. The December update pushed him to No. 10, and now he finishes at No. 8 in the final rankings. The former Alabama commit is still being courted by the Crimson Tide — where he visited this past weekend — along with Texas A&M, Texas and Auburn. His official visit schedule will end on Feb. 2 when he takes his final trip to Auburn. He will then make a decision and sign a week later on his birthday, Feb. 9.

*** The only big faller for Auburn was DeAndre Carter, who went from No. 131 to outside the Top247. His 93 grade fell to a 91. When Carter enrolls at Auburn in the summer, he’s set to play guard. He remains a 4-star and, for reference, has a higher grade than Conner Lew had in the 2023 class.

*** Overall, Auburn’s class finishes with nine signees inside the Top247 with a chance to add No. 10 in Williams. Auburn signed five in the 2023 class, with Jeremiah Cobb the only one that Hugh Freeze inherited when he was named Auburn’s head coach.
