Sunderland dealt blow in their pursuit for PL striker with a deal now looking unlikely

Alan Nixon has stated that Sunderland’s hopes of signing Kieffer Moore this month are unlikely to succeed without a permanent offer.

Tenth in the Championship standings is Sunderland. This season, the Black Cats have had to overcome losing without a starting striker once more.

They have combined for 47 Championship appearances this season between Eliezer Mayenda, Luis Hemir, Nazariy Rusyn, and Mason Burstow, with one goal and two assists.

However, that doesn’t really criticize the players. Since they had no prior

experience, Sunderland would have had more time to allow the young players to

get used to their surroundings if they had a reliable striker.

The Moore connections follow. This month, the 31-year-old was connected to moves to Cardiff City, Ipswich Town, and Sunderland.

Although preliminary discussions were apparently undertaken in anticipation of

a possible loan transfer, Nixon has now stated that a permanent offer this month

is probably required to entice him away from Bournemouth. Something that

instantly casts doubt on a contract with Sunderland.

Desperation kicks in

Sunderland have also been linked with Macaulay Langstaff this month and a

permanent deal for him seems more likely than Moore.

The latter is completely out of Sunderland’s paradigm, whereas Langstaff is still only 26 years old and has the ability to turn a profit.

There is a chance that Sunderland will turn desperate, though, and a late approach for Moore cannot be ruled out if Notts County decides they will not sell or raises their asking price to a ridiculous sum.

With Michael Beale’s team not only having a bad run of form but also putting on drab performances and showing no signs of improvement, the atmosphere on Wearside is currently nasty.

The upcoming seven days have great potential and most certainly will determine the fate of many employees in Sunderland.
