Done deal: RABBITOHS EXTEND CONTRACT OF an incredible player for another three years
|RABBITOHS EXTEND CONTRACT OF PETER MAMOUZELOS UNTIL AT LEAST THE END OF 2027
With great pleasure, the South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced today that
teenage hooker Peter Mamouzelos’
contract has been extended for an
additional three seasons, through the end of 2027.
Mamouzelos, 23, joined the senior ranks at the Rabbitohs in 2019 and has since
played 72 grade games for South Sydney, including seven NRL games.
Mamouzelos, player number 1170 for the Rabbitohs, made his grade debut on round 14, 2021, at Stadium Australia against the Newcastle Knights.
The Rabbitohs’ 2023 NSW Cup team, which defeated the Brisbane Tigers on
NRL Grand Final day to win the NSW Cup
premiership for the first time in forty years as well as the NRL State
Championship, was greatly enhanced by Peter’s contribution.
Mamouzelos, a youngster from South Sydney who plays for the Maroubra Lions club, has also been a fixture in the
Greek national team, representing Greece in 10 Test matches over the last
six years, including the Rugby League World Cup in 2022.
Mamouzelos is thrilled to continue working with the Rabbitohs.
Mamouzelos declared, “I’m really excited to be extending my time with this Club.”
“I informed my management that I had
no intention of going elsewhere. This is
where I grew up, South Sydney has always been my team, and I adore this Club.
I was overjoyed when I spoke with him and he told me we were staying here!
“We have the best Members and fans in the competition and it’s an honour to play for them each week.
“I am incredibly grateful to my family for all of their sacrifices that have allowed me to reach this point in my life.
“I’d like to express my gratitude to JD (Jason
Demetriou), Ello (Mark Ellison),
and all the coaches for having faith in me.
“Thank you to all of the players for their assistance in helping me refine my game.
We have the best playing squad in the competition, in my opinion, and I’m confident we can win it.
“I’m just so happy that I resigned, and I can’t wait for the football season to begin in a few weeks.”
According to Head of Football Mark Ellison,
Mamouzelos will be involved in
more first-grade games in the upcoming campaigns.
According to Mr. Ellison, “Pete is a junior from South Sydney who has worked hard
to get into the position he finds himself with the opportunity to play more first grade in the coming seasons.”
“He is a guy that works hard on his game and picks up knowledge about the
dummy half role from his teammates and coaches.
He is enjoying the chance to work with one of our game’s top hookers,
Damien Cook, as well as other seasoned players like Siliva Havili.
“As he has advanced through the grades over the past few years, we have watched him steadily grow. In the
upcoming seasons, he is expected to play a bigger part in first grade.
We’re all excited to watch Pete’s game develop over the next four years and
beyond. We’re incredibly glad to know that he sees his future here at the Rabbitohs.
