VAR crisis: Daniel Farke reveals a Complicated incident that almost cost Leeds victory over Norwich city last

VAR Complicated incident that almost cost Leeds victory over Norwich city last

Video from the 24 January match between Norwich City and Leeds United has surfaced, and it blatantly depicts Georginio Rutter being denied a goal.

The Canaries had a free kick and sent everyone forward, including their keeper, to win the game 1-0, but not before there was late drama.

After Leeds successfully stopped the set play, Rutter received the ball, stole a step

ahead of the Norwich players in the Whites’ half, and looked to be through on the opposition goal.

But referee Matthew Donohue pulled it back for a free kick rather than awarding the hosts the advantage and signaling play to continue.

The video unequivocally shows that the Frenchman was faster than goalkeeper

Angus Gunn, and if he had been allowed to continue, he would have been walking the ball into an empty net.

The officiating was appalling, and if Norwich had managed to score in the final moments, it would have been the biggest theft of the year.

Referees are instructed to let play flow, but Donohue did the exact opposite, which irritated the Elland Road support as well.

Nevertheless, Leeds won these three vital games, and they are now only two points outside of the top two—a terrific place to be at this point in the season.
