Key player injured, 26-year-old given rare start: Predicted Aston Villa XI v Chelsea – opinion

Aston Villa predicted XI, team and injury news v Chelsea as £14m man given rare start

This weekend, Aston Villa will play in an FA Cup fourth-round tie for the first time since 2016. Here is our expected starting lineup for the matchup with Chelsea.

After their victory over Middlesbrough the previous round, Aston Villa has advanced to the FA Cup fourth round once more. It hasn’t happened since a 2016 matchup with Wycombe Wanderers.

The Villans and Unai Emery travel to Stamford Bridge this time in an attempt to make progress once more.

Since there has been a winter break during the past week, this game will likely feature a solid starting lineup. While Emery must deal with a number of injuries, most of his starting lineup is still available.

Having said that, here is our expected starting lineup for Aston Villa vs Chelsea.

Aston Villa Predicted XI

As always, Emi Martinez will keep his place in the starting XI even though it is the FA Cup. Although it may be considered to give Robin Olsen a run-out, that risk can not be taken. Villa fans want the cup to be taken seriously and as a result, the Argentine makes our predicted XI.

The back four is set to be without Pau Torres once again due to injury. As a result, we suggest that the two centre-backs should be Clement Lenglet and Ezri Konsa.

Since Alex Moreno is the only player available at the moment, the left-back currently decides for himself. As he replaces Diego Carlos on the other wing, we have chosen Matty Cash for our projected starting lineup.

Another one that chooses itself at the moment is the midfield quartet, particularly in light of the players’ recent rest. Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara will form their signature pair in the middle of the park.

Captain John McGinn, who has to regain his form, will be on one flank. Leon Bailey, on the other hand, will get the start in an attempt to continue his excellent play from the beginning of the season.

Moussa Diaby will be positioned in the hole behind the striker, looking to return to your scoring ways against Chelsea. Considering his inconsistent play in the past several weeks, he needs to get better in order to stay in our starting lineup.

Upfront will be the undroppable Ollie Watkins who has been superb this season. He has been without a goal since December so will be looking for a goal of his own.

Aston Villa predicted XI: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Lenglet, Moreno, Bailey, Luiz, Kamara, McGinn, Diaby, Watkins
