Done deal:Leeds United at the verge of signing a top target as agreement has been reached

Leeds United favourites to sign Manuel Benson as verbal agreement development emerges

According to Hull Live, Hull City’s chances of acquiring Burnley winger Manuel Benson are currently diminishing as Leeds United appears to be the front-runner in the competition for his services.

The online news source stated on January 27 that City and Burnley had a verbal agreement for Benson to join the team on loan until the end of the season. However, that agreement doesn’t seem to have stood up, as the Belgian hasn’t made up his mind and is drawing interest from other Championship teams, including Leeds.

First, on January 18, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed Leeds’ interest in the player. According to Tavolieri, the

Whites were planning for Benson to replace Wilfried Gnonto, who they

expected to sign a contract with West Ham United.

Despite expectations now that Gnonto will put pen to paper on a new deal at Elland Road rather than leave the club

this month, Leeds continue to lead the way for Benson, who has been told he

can leave Turf Moor, with Tavolieri revealing in an update this week (25

January), that the Whites were now “pushing” to sign the forward.

This would be a fantastic addition to Daniel Farke’s squad as they continue to

push for an instant return to the Premier League.

Benson played in three of Burnley’s opening five games following their

promotion back to the Premier League, but he has subsequently struggled for

playing time as Vincent Kompany’s team adjusts to life in the top division.

Benson is still a talented player, though, and he is familiar with the

Championship. The 26-year-old led Burnley to victory in the previous season with 13 goals and three assists.

He will be itching to return to the field and demonstrate his abilities, and there is no better place to do it than with a

team that is now leading the Championship.

As they look for a quick path back to the Premier League, Farke’s team is breathing down the necks of the top two

teams in the Championship and will be looking to keep applying pressure.
