Dan Campbell to be without key quarter back on Sunday as his side take on

The Detroit Lions are preparing for what will likely be the biggest game in the previous thirty years for their team. The Lions and 49ers will play for the NFC Championship on Sunday. The Lions

want to make it to their first Super Bowl in the franchise’s existence. For them so far, this season has undoubtedly been magical.

Only a few days prior to their game against the 49ers, though, the Lions revealed some rather intriguing quarterback injury news.

The 49ers are listed as doubtful to see rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker

because of a tooth injury, according to a statement from the Lions. Hooker did not take part in Friday’s practice, according

to the Lions injury report. During the Lions’ first two practices of the week, Hooker participated fully.

It is critical for the Lions to have a third quarterback available for the NFC

Championship Game. The league changed its quarterback policy after the 49ers’ injuries to Josh Johnson and Brock

Purdy in the NFC Championship Game of the previous season. NFL teams are now permitted to carry a backup quarterback

on their 53-man roster, which does not deduct from their 46-man active roster for games.

Both Teddy Bridgewater, the backup quarterback, and starting quarterback Jared Goff are healthy going into the NFC

Championship Game for the Lions. That might quickly alter, though, in the face of a fierce 49ers defense.
