Latest Leeds United transfer news and gossip as we count down to the window closing next week
Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours as the clock ticks down on the January transfer window.
Ben Godfrey deal lodged
Before the January transfer window ends, Leeds United is in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, and they
may have found their man in Ben Godfrey, defender for Everton. According
to Football Insider, Leeds has now formally approached the 26-year-old in
an attempt to sign him to a season-long loan.
Godfrey has been given permission to leave Goodison Park this month as Sean
Dyche and the team attempt to reduce their payroll; several other clubs have
shown interest in signing him. According to the most recent source, Leeds is
attempting to push through a deal before the transfer window closes on Thursday
evening. That interest is now reportedly official.
It’s been predicted that Leeds United will win the race to sign Burnley winger Manuel Benson. According to our sister
site Hull Live, there is increasing evidence that Leeds is leading a number
of Championship clubs in their pursuit of Benson, which is making Hull City’s
chances of landing him look increasingly remote.
At the start of the month, Hull City and Burnley reached a verbal agreement for
Hull City to sign the Belgian winger on a loan contract that would last until the
end of the season. The player, eager to consider his alternatives as the month
went on, would ultimately make the decision. It is rumored that Leeds is
prepared to make a move, and a move to Hull
is not thought to be his preference.
Benson has only played in 12 minutes of Premier League action after starting in
three of Burnley’s first five games. He was on the bench for the team’s most
recent draw at home against Luton Town, and Vincent Kompany has told
him he can leave Turf Moor in search of regular playing time.
