Zach Wilson Will Be Traded To Kansas City Chiefs This Off-Season: Former MVP Boomer Esiason

Zach Wilson, the quarterback for the New York Jets, is anticipated to be traded

this offseason, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

He was speaking with the squad about his plans as he was sitting on the

sidelines. A few weeks prior, he had allegedly refused to play again.

This off-season, Zach Wilson will be dealt to the #Chiefs, according to former MVP Boomer Esiason.

“He’s going to wind up with Andy Reid in Kansas City.” He will be taken off the

scrap heap by Andy Reid, who will develop him into a quarterback.

Andy Reid is the only person who can save Wilson.

Although Wilson has been with the organization for a while, Russini might

be referring to the quarterback’s dismissal from the starting lineup

following the team’s Week 11 setback to the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets dropped their next two games before Wilson started in Week 14 on

December 10 against the Houston Texans.

Wilson would have gone down in NFL history as one of the worst draft

selections if he had committed to New York.

Zach Wilson will be traded by the New York Jets this summer. Wilson’s

relationship with the Jets is irreparably damaged.

Wilson was benched for Tim Boyle, and the Jets reportedly warned him he would be traded in the offseason.

Although Wilson ended up playing for the Jets last season, it was clear that his time in New York was coming to an end.

Wilson should have a chance to compete with

new teams for the backup role, as

the Jets add their experienced and capable additions.

Which teams would consider trading Wilson? Let’s take a look at five teams that could trade Wilson this offseason.

The New York Jets could trade Zach Wilson to the Minnesota Vikings. Wilson

could compete with Jalen Hall in the fifth round in 2023 for Minnesota’s first QB2

job while playing an offense similar to the one he’s known for.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were involved in a battle at quarterback last

summer between Kyle Trask and newly signed

Baker Mayfield. Mayfield earned

the starting job and the best season of his NFL career.

The Buccaneers ran a wide zone scheme led by Shanahan under offensive

coordinator Dave Canales, who championed Mayfield’s defense this season.

Wilson could compete with Kyle Trask for the seventh quarterback spot and

allow Canales to work on another recycling program. After successfully

reviving Mayfield’s career this season,

Wilson may be his next target.

The NY Jets could trade Zach Wilson to the Green Bay Packers. One of the

funniest twists in the NFL is that the Jets sent Zach Wilson to the same team that signed him as a backup a year ago.

The Packers could also use another quarterback on the roster, fifth-rounder

Sean Clifford, behind Jordan Love this year.

The NY Jets could trade Zach Wilson to the San Francisco 49ers. If there’s one

coach in the NFL who can fix Zach Wilson and save

his career, it’s Kyle Shanahan.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Brock Purdy has done an incredible job taking Jimmy Garoppolo to the Super Bowl.

For the 49ers, Sam Darnold will become a free agent at the end of the season.

That means the team could be looking for a new quarterback.

The Jets have a strong working relationship with the 49ers, thanks to

Saleh’s connections to the organization. They will be considered a landing spot for Wilson in the trade.

The NY Jets could trade Zach Wilson to the Kansas City Chiefs. Zach Wilson’s

plan for 2023 is to learn from Aaron Rodgers, one of the all-time greats.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a familiar sight for

Wilson this offseason. The

Chiefs don’t have a top quarterback behind Patrick Mahomes.

Wilson could compete for the primary backup job in Kansas City and learn who the best quarterbacks are in today’s NFL.

It appears Zach Wilson’s tenure with the New York Jets may end this offseason.

One of Wilson’s teammates told ESPN’s Rich Cimini that he “would be shocked”

if Wilson was the team’s quarterback in 2024.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini also reported Sunday that the Jets told Wilson

they intended to trade him this offseason while he was on the bench, which was

“one of the reasons he was on the bench.”

Wilson started most of New York’s games in 2023 but is not expected to play in

2024 as Aaron Rodgers returns from a torn Achilles tendon.

Wilson certainly had his moments with Rodgers, but ultimately disappointed and proved he was not New York’s quarterback of the future.

While Wilson’s future has been the subject of much speculation, Jets head

coach Robert Saleh told reporters this week that the team is currently

evaluating the BYU product and backup quarterback situation heading into 2024.

He said it was inside. Rodgers told reporters:

“I love Zach and I want what’s best for Zach. And if he wants to be here and

that’s what’s best for him, then of course I would like to continue this relationship for another year.”
