Rams have Interview Ron Rivera, Former Head Coach of the Commanders as their new

Former Commanders head coach Ron Rivera is one of the best defensive minds

in football, and the Los Angeles Rams have invited him to interview for the position of defensive coordinator.

In search of a successor for now-former defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, who was appointed head coach of the Atlanta Falcons last week, the Los Angeles Rams are not holding back.

Three candidates, including former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, were already scheduled for interviews by Los Angeles this week.

They are now adding another former franchise leader in the form of recently fired Commanders head coach Ron

Rivera, who was let go after four seasons with the team, according to reports from CBS NFL insider Jonathan Jones.

Rivera, who is regarded as one of the greatest defensive minds in football, just

finished his second head coaching position, which he held with Washington from 2020 to 2023.

Rivera had an overall record of 26-40-1 while playing for the Commanders. He

only made it to the playoffs once, in 2020, when he won the NFC East. He never brought home a championship with the team

Prior to that, Rivera enjoyed considerably greater success during his nine seasons as head coach of the

Carolina Panthers from 2011 to 2019. From 2013 to 2015, Rivera led the Panthers to three consecutive NFC South

titles and a final record of 76-63-1. In four of his nine seasons, the Panthers made it to the postseason.

Rivera was the Chargers defensive coordinator from 2008 to 2010 and the

team’s linebackers coach in 2007 before taking on the role of head coach. In 2008,

2009, and 2010, Rivera’s defense finished 15th in total defense while he was with the Chargers.
