Leicester city January Target is stranded at the airport

Leicester City, who lead the Championship by ten points, has never had to worry about signing new players during this month’s transfer window.

However, as the deadline draws near, a worrying hold-up has developed in their race to sign their top target.

Stefano Sensi of Inter Milan has been a name that has frequently come up in

relation to Leicester during the January transfer window. The midfield player has occasionally appeared to be a sure thing,

with earlier rumors indicating that the transfer was about to be completed. The Foxes haven’t acquired their man yet,

which may worry Enzo Maresca, with just 48 hours until the January transfer window closes.

When questioned about Sensi earlier this month, Maresca stated, via BBC Sport: “I

always said the same thing: it’s better when you are strong and can get stronger.” I really like Sensi as a player,

and that’s all I have to say about him. We are not permitted to take any action. In order to take action, we must sell.

Naturally, Leicester has since cleared Luke Thomas off their roster once more.

Although the transfer is merely temporary and not a permanent move to Middlesbrough, it could have at least

freed up some space in Maresca’s roster. It’s unclear, though, if Sensi will be the one to occupy that position.

In an unexpected turn of events, Gazzetta claims that Leicester has not yet

signed the necessary paperwork to finalize the deal for Sensi, placing the

transfer on hold. Sensi is supposedly prepared and eager to go to England in order to finish a medical and sign a

contract, but as long as the Foxes don’t sign the paperwork, he won’t be moving forward and time is running out.

It could be viewed as a significant setback for everyone associated with The King Power this month if the Foxes

manage to go as far as purportedly reaching an agreement on a €2 million deal only to then fail to accept Sensi.

Even though the agreement is merely on hold, Leicester must now act quickly. Given how close things are, the deal is

still inevitable, but any more delays could result in Sensi playing for Inter Milan for the remainder of the season.

When Sensi is playing at his peak, his stats demonstrate how crucial it is that the Foxes close a deal.

With Leicester possibly playing in the Premier League the following season, Sensi might quickly show to be a wise

long-term investment for Maresca and company. The midfielder could benefit from his extensive top-flight experience

  1. in Italy as the Foxes attempt to make the playoffs for the first time in team history.
