Sunderland is set to sign dream Diallo alternative with late move

The Diallo alternative Sunderland could sign after Mundle

Sunderland could well be busy with multiple incomings even with Amad Diallo reportedly not rejoining.

With a 3-1 victory over Stoke City in his most recent game as Sunderland’s manager, Michael Beale may have finally turned the corner and relieved some of the intense strain that had been building on his back.

This priceless triumph gave the under-pressure Black Cats manager his first win in three games, and the Wearside club’s transfer window activities also raised spirits among Stadium of Light supporters.

Leo Hjelde’s arrival from Leeds United strengthens Sunderland’s injured left-back position, while a transfer for Romaine Mundle, a former Tottenham Hotspur winger, appears to be imminent.

Could Sunderland potentially make it a hat-trick of positive buys with this young loan recruit before the impending deadline?

Sunderland eyeing up Arsenal starlet

A report from Football Transfers at the start of this week indicated that the Black

Cats are interested in signing young Arsenal winger Charles Sagoe Jr on loan,

Sunderland arguably in need of an added injection of creativity if Alex

Pritchard’s expected departure gets over the line.

Moreover, Sagoe Jr – who has been referred to as the next Bukayo Saka at

the Emirates Stadium – could well be viewed as a dream Amad Diallo

substitute with the Red Devils attacker looking unlikely to return to Sunderland

despite having his heart set on a reunion according to reports.

Given Sunderland’s philosophy of giving young talent a chance, which was demonstrated by Jobe Bellingham’s standout performance this season, Sagoe Jr. may develop even more and be ready to make the transition to adult football with the Championship’s optimistic promotion team.

Together with fellow newcomer Mundle, 20, he might bring together two players who were previously divided by a split in

north London. The young pair could aid Beale’s team in improving and making a

successful transition to the Premier League.

How Charles Sagoe Jr would fit into the Sunderland team

Predominantly playing as a left winger for the Gunners at various different age brackets, Sagoe Jr wouldn’t instantly come in and take Jack Clarke’s place. After all, who would?

Instead, should the talented 19-year-old decide not to make a big move on deadline day, he would wait it out and gain from the loan stint as Clarke’s backup.

Nevertheless, given his performance at the U23 level this season—six assists in the Premier League 2 from just eight games—first-team involvement at the Stadium of Light may not be far off.

Sagoe Jr., who is skilled at playing down the right-hand flank as well, would

currently find greater satisfaction in playing minutes here. However, this can

also lead to friendly rivalry with Mundle, who played right wing for Spurs in his

childhood before moving on to Standard Liege.

Playing in this position for Spurs at the U23 level, he helped the team score eight

goals. If Sunderland signs both of these young players, they could hit gold, and

the Black Cats could add a creative outlet to their arsenal.

If Sagoe Jr. and Mundle come through the door, Beale will believe his team has

what it takes to fight at the top of the division; Sunderland may look into a trade for Diallo at a later date.
