There are few impact position players in the Atlanta Braves’ farm system, which is why it isn’t thought to be very good.

Some argue that the Atlanta Braves, with their long-term contractual control at the

major league level, don’t really need a top farm system. When shortstop

Orlando Arcia becomes a free agent in 2026—and even though he has a club option for that season that could extend

it until 2027—that position player void won’t occur until after the eight players in the starting lineup.

However, the Braves’ subpar farm system makes it difficult for them to replace a major league player who is injured, and that is still a factor.

And for that reason, Atlanta was ranked 27th out of 30 teams by Baseball

Prospectus, who released their organizational farm system rankings

prior to the 2024 season, giving them a bottom five ranking. Regarding the Braves, they stated the following:

Having graduated a young core that has led them to the top of the NL East for the

last few seasons, Atlanta has a good reason for their recent fallow fields.

Additionally, the remaining top prospects were traded for long-term assets like Sean Murphy and Matt Olson.

Additionally, Atlanta still has a strong pipeline for pitchers. They simply don’t have a deep system at all, and they won’t

be able to internally address any major lineup gaps for some time. Not that they possess any.
