Leeds have shift their attention and made Newcastle United 32 -yr old as their top deadline day signing

Before the transfer window closes, Leeds United and Ipswich Town are eager to

sign Paul Dummett, a defender for Newcastle United, sources have told Football Insider.

Rivals for promotion from the Championship are eager to bolster their defenses, and the adaptable 32-year-old Magpies star meets that need.

Having joined the team since his debut eleven years ago, Dummett joined the team after rising through the ranks at Newcastle.

However, since the massively wealthy Saudi-backed takeover of the St. James’ Park club in 2021, the Wales international has made only sporadic appearances

Thus far in the 2023–24 campaign, he has only managed four appearances, totaling 184 minutes of action.

At the end of this season, Dummett’s contract with Newcastle expires. He has made 209 appearances overall.

Although his primary position is left back, the 32-year-old can cover at center defense.

Throughout this midseason window, Leeds has pursued defensive reinforcements and witnessed moves for multiple top targets fall through.

The Whites are only two points and two spots behind Ipswich, their rivals for promotion, in fourth place in the Championship.

Leeds has not yet finalized a January acquisition, whereas the Tractor Boys have completed three winter additions.
