Enzo Maresca has charge his players for 100% performance Vs Stoke City

The race for promotions is intensifying as the Sky Bet Championship season

approaches its 30th matchday this coming weekend. As things stand, the

Foxes have a 10-point lead at the top of the table. Their next chance to extend that lead is when they visit Stoke City.

Before the game began at bet365 Stadium on Saturday at 3 p.m. GMT,

Maresca spoke to the media during his pre-game press conference from the LCFC Training Ground.

Steven Schumacher was appointed at Stoke after leading Plymouth Argyle to mid-table in the first half of the season

after their League 1 promotion, so Maresca has already faced his opposite number once this season.

The 43-year-old, who is now tasked with improving the Potters’ short-term

standing—they are currently 19th in the table—expects Schumacher’s new team

to use a setup similar to what they did when they visited King Power Stadium with the Pilgrims in December.

They rank among the top teams when it comes to high pressing, the Italian said. “We have already faced their manager

here in Plymouth, where they pressed hard, were nearly man-to-man, and extremely aggressive.

“We scored the second goal when Pat (Patson Daka) found Mads [Hermansen] in the back of the net. That’s one of the ways we can counter the opposition’s

man-to-man pressure. We will also attempt to use some solutions in the back in case they follow suit.

Birmingham played in the FA Cup the other day in a manner similar to how we

did against Sunderland (then led by Tony Mowbray). Man-to-man, they attempted

to be extremely aggressive. We anticipated that Jakub [Stolarczyk] would be the only player free. We

anticipate that they will behave essentially the same way as they did with Plymouth tomorrow, but we’ll see.
