Done deal:An incredible player that has hit free agency is set to join the Seahawks and his been honest about it.
|Bobby Wagner Gets Honest On His Future With Seahawks
Bobby Wagner, a linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks, will be eligible for free agency this offseason. Would he think about joining the Seahawks again?
After the season, Seattle fired longtime head coach Pete Carroll, which some believe could have an impact on Wagner’s decision as a free agent and encourage him to sign with another team.
The standout defender thinks that Carroll’s exit will not have an impact on his performance in March.
According to NFL media’s Grant Gordon, Wagner responded, “No, it doesn’t affect
anything.” “I wish to continue playing ball. I want to continue showcasing my
high caliber of skill. I have the good fortune to spend a lot of time with players like Ray Lewis, Peyton Manning,
and other players, learning from them and discussing how they were able to
endure as long as they did, so I’m happy about that, even though I’m still working that out.
This season, Wagner participated in every game and finished first in the NFL
with 183 tackles—his third league-high total. In addition, he added 3.5 sacks and
recovered a fumble as he made his seventh Pro Bowl appearance.
Wilson did not express surprise at Carroll’s departure, even if he claims he
won’t be swayed by the Seahawks’ choice to let him go.
“Obviously, of course, because Pete Carroll comes to mind when you think of
the Seahawks,” Wagner remarked. Given that he has been there for, what,
fourteen years, that makes sense. It will therefore always be unexpected to not
see that face associated with the Seahawks. The same thing happened
with Bill Belichick; when you consider You think of Bill Belichick, Patriots. But
at some point, you knew the time was approaching.
After playing in the NFL for 12 years, Wagner spent 11 of those years in Seattle
during two separate spells. He began his career in the Pacific Northwest, where he
was selected by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. In
his second season, he assisted the team in winning a Super Bowl.
The 33-year-old then played for the Los Angeles Rams for a single season in 2022 before going back to Seattle.
Bobby Wagner has made all of his Pro Bowl appearances in addition to being
selected six times for the First Team All-Pro.
This season, the Seahawks finished 9-8 and were not in the playoffs.
