Auburn strikes early and late on National Signing Day to bolster 2024 class

After acquiring a late-night commitment from three-star offensive tackle Favour Edwin and flipping four-star defensive lineman Amaris Williams from Florida, Auburn emerged victorious from the Early National Signing Day festivities.

According to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, Hugh Freeze and the AU coaching staff kept their foot firmly planted from beginning to end on Wednesday, and as a result, they have the seventh-ranked recruiting class for the 2024 cycle.

Despite not flipping the two highest-ranked targets on their board, Auburn recruiting insider Cole Pinkston joined On3’s Josh Newberg on the most recent episode of The Inside Scoop to discuss how the Tigers acquired their two new prospects for a positive NSD.

Auburn beats out Ohio State in race to flip Amaris Williams

This fall, it appeared that Florida would be able to override four-star defensive lineman Amaris Williams of Clinton, North Carolina. At first, Ohio State was the program that was all the rage, but then Auburn arrived.

On December 10, the 6-foot-2.5, 265-pound player paid The Plains an official

visit. According to Pinkston, that excursion did wonders for the Tigers’ chances.

“It looked like Florida was about to lose him to someone else, and it appeared like

the deal with Ohio State was virtually finalized. It transpired in a variety of

ways, but it changed during Boy’s visit to Auburn. He was really open and honest

with us both off and on the record. “Yeah, this might pretty much do it,” he told us

off the air, and that’s exactly how it turned out,” Pinkston remarked.

“That was a really big addition for signing day, because other than keeping

your class roster, the day doesn’t look too great if you don’t get that one.”

Williams is ranked No. 11 DL in the 2024 cycle and No. 82 overall by the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average

that takes into account all four of the major recruiting media companies. He

propelled the class as the fifth recruit ranked in the top 100 to attend AU.
