Leeds United Star “Too Expensive” For European Champions

Thanks to a goal from Wilfried Gnonto, Leeds United defeated Bristol City 1-0 on Friday night, lifting the Peacocks momentarily to second position in the Championship.

After winning their last five league games, Daniel Farke’s team is currently riding high. They have moved into the

automatic promotion spots for the first time this season, albeit this was short-

lived after Southampton’s away loss to Rotherham United.

During the January transfer window, the Yorkshire team was the focus of numerous transfer rumors, especially in relation to Crysencio Summerville, who has been playing brilliantly in the Championship this season.

With 28 appearances across all competitions for Leeds United, the Dutch forward has netted 12 goals and provided seven assists. Aston Villa, a Champions League contender, is among the clubs in the top tier that are showing interest in signing him.

The 22-year-old was eager to return to De Kuip before the winter transfer window closed on Thursday night, but a deal for the winger proved to be too costly, according to Feyenoord manager Arne Slot.

In a recent interview with Voetbal Zone, Slot stated [quotes via Caught Offside]:

“We haven’t been able to locate a player that is practical for us and who bolsters our offense.

It is not hard to locate a player like that. I’ve said that previously since I can recall numerous examples (of guys like this). That must, nevertheless, also be within our means. A player needs to be motivated to join us and have the desire to compete in the Eredivisie.

If only Summerville had been on our side. However, he is too costly.

“He’s been an intriguing player to watch for a while,”

A player in the Championship who is performing well will almost certainly draw attention from major league teams in Europe and the top division. Summerville, Jack Clarke of Sunderland, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Leicester City, and Jonathan Rowe of Norwich City are all outstanding instances of this.

Nonetheless, Summerville has undoubtedly been the best player in the

division this year, so Leeds United’s ability to retain him through the end of

the season was crucial because losing the forward would have severely harmed

their chances of securing promotion back to the Premier League.
