Leeds United: BBC pundit blasts Georginio Rutter after what he did v Bristol City

Georgino Rutter came under fire from Gary Owers on Friday, February 2, when he failed to give Leeds United the lead against Bristol City in the first half.

The analyst remarked on BBC Radio Bristol on Friday at 8:38 p.m. (BBC Sport) that the 21-year-old forward had a “poor finish” since he was unable to put the ball past Max O’Leary.

However, he went on to say that the keeper for the Robins made a “outstanding stop” to keep his team from trailing before Willy Gnonto came on in the second half to give the Whites a 1-0 victory at Ashton Gate.

Even though the shot was directly at the goalkeeper, Owers called the stop superb. Really, Rutter ought to have scored; the finish is subpar.

“How is City not in the lead here? Leeds has had two excellent chances. However, City hasn’t really begun to play in this match.

Georgino Rutter lacked cutting-edge, Willy Gnonto didn’t

It wasn’t a great effort from Rutter as he should’ve really handed Leeds a first-half lead before O’Leary pulled off an excellent save to deny him.

Although the Frenchman has been playing well so far this season, he should occasionally perform better in front of goal, according to one critique of him.
Having made 30 appearances for his team this season, he has five goals and nine assists, making him a far more creative effect for the Whites.
For Gnonto, it was a different story as he took advantage of his opportunity and sent a left-footed attempt past the goalkeeper minutes into the second half.
Over the next few months, Daniel Farke will be hoping that the Italian forward, who has been linked to a move away from Elland Road in recent weeks, can finally get going.
