Man United give ‘disaster’ injury update ahead of Aston Villa clash

The latest Aston Villa news as Manchester United visit Villa Park in next weekend’s Premier League clash

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has provided a concerning update over defender Lisandro Martinez’s injury in advance of the team’s matchup with Aston Villa the following weekend.

After seemingly hurting his knee in the second half, the center back—who had recently recovered from a foot injury—had to leave the field. He tried to continue after receiving treatment, but Raphael Varane took his place in barely five minutes.

At Old Trafford, United defeated West Ham 3-0, with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund. Ten Hag provided an update on Martinez’s injuries following the game.

“We take every precaution to ensure that the harm is accurately diagnosed. He is incredibly dejected and miserable. We are all truly at one with him.

“When it gets very bad, it’s a personal disaster first and foremost. However, let’s wait and see. However, it is also incredibly detrimental to the squad because he brings a lot to the table.”

The likelihood of the defender being available for United’s trip to Villa Park the following week seems low. The Red Devils visit Villa on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

First up for Villa is a rematch with Chelsea in the FA Cup fourth round. The Blues visit Villa Park on Wednesday night, where Unai Emery’s team is playing after a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

This weekend, Villa will win 5-0, despite the fact that both teams will enter the game with distinct attitudes. Chelsea, on the other hand, lost to Wolves 4-2 at home.
