Judd Trump teases “strange” German Masters matchup between Si Jiahui and himself.

As he gets ready to play Si Jiahui in Sunday’s German Masters final, Judd

Trump remarks that it feels odd to be the more experienced player in a major match.

After defeating Sam Craigie 6-2 in the semi-final on Saturday night, the 34-year-old is aiming to win his fourth ranking title of the year.

Si advanced to his first ranking final earlier in the afternoon with a masterful 6-3 victory over former champion Kyren Wilson.

The 21-year-old made his debut last year as a qualifier and advanced to the World

Championship semi-finals. Since then, he has achieved his best run of results since the Crucible in Berlin.

Trump acknowledges that, having been shot at by the younger man for the majority of his career—dating back to his

2011 Crucible final match against John Higgins—it will feel different for him as the relative veteran.

It’s quite unusual for me to be portraying someone so young. Trump stated to WST.

It reminds me a lot of the time I spent playing John Higgins in the [World

Championship] final when I was that age. He’s a really great talent, but I’m the one who should be taken out.

He also plays Chinese snooker with an incredible skill set. He is a pleasure to

watch as he is aggressive, makes his shots, and moves the ball forward. I’m excited for that particular game

Since the run at the Crucible last year, I have not given much thought to reaching another semi-final,’ he stated. “I just

concentrate on every shot, not counting the number of tables in the arena.” I will improve if I play well, and I won’t feel

bad if I don’t win. Who I am playing with has no bearing on the shots I choose to take.

I didn’t feel under much pressure, even though we were behind 2-0, because I

think I’ve gotten very used to this venue. I knew Kyren was a top professional, so I

just let go and relaxed there. My form improved, and I was able to finish with a positive frame of mind.

One of the highlights of the entire snooker calendar, a Tempodrom final is an experience that both men will be savoring.

“I believe it’s one of the locations.”Trump, who has already won

the German Masters twice, said, “There are definitely tournaments with bigger

prize money on the calendar, but there is a feeling that money can’t buy, walking in at the semi-final stage.”
