Lions are set to complete the trade of a Titans pass pusher after Hiring Coach Terrell Williams

Lions are set to complete trade of a Titans pass pusher after Hiring Coach Terrell Williams

The Detroit Lions have already been linked to a number of defenders who

could help their pass rush this offseason. Denico Autry, a veteran defensive lineman, joins the list.

Mike Payton of AtoZ Sports linked the Lions to Autry due to his relationship with new Lions defensive assistant

Terrell Williams. Autry has played for Williams with the Tennessee Titans in each of the last three seasons

The 33-year-old just had the best year of his NFL career, recording 11.5 sacks with

the Titans this season,” Payton wrote. “He was arguably the best defensive player

on the Titans this past season, and there’s a lot of reason to believe he’d come along with Williams.”

With Williams as his position coach, Autry had 28.5 sacks, 30 tackles for loss,

and 54 quarterback hits in 46 games with the Titans. Despite turning 33 last

summer, his three-year stay in Tennessee was his best three-year statistical period of his career.

that he turned 33 last summer, his three-year stint in Tennessee was his best statistical period of his career.

With Williams coming from Tennessee, the fit is obvious. Furthermore, the Lions should improve their pass rush this offseason.

Aidan Hutchinson was Detroit’s only pass rusher who recorded more than 5 sacks in 2023. Furthermore, despite leading by

17 points at halftime, the Lions only recorded 2 sacks in the NFC championship gam

A lot of things happened that led to the championship game’s collapse. However, with the San Francisco 49ers throwing a

lot in the second half, the Lions would have had a better chance of maintaining their lead with another elite edge rusher

Autry turns 34 in July, so he may not be the big pass-rushing splash that pundits

expect the Lions to make. However, because of his age, he could be a less

expensive option to supplement another significant offseason addition to the Lions pass rush.
