Ronnie O’Sullivan said this after Judd Trump won his Third German Masters title

Judd Trump defeated Si Jiahui 10-5 in Berlin on Sunday to win the 2024 German Masters.

Generally speaking, Trump controlled the showdown for glory in front of a

sizable crowd at the enormous Tempodrom arena.

The 34-year-old’s victory in his fourth final in the event’s history ties in with his victories at the German Masters in 2020 and 2021.

This season alone, Trump has won four ranking titles. His career total has

increased to 27 on the all-time list, just one behind the legendary Steve Davis.

This term, the Englishman’s performances in ranking tournaments

have brought in prize money totaling over half a million pounds.

Not quite enough to take the top spot on the official world rankings list from

Ronnie O’Sullivan, whom Trump lost to in the most recent World Grand Prix final.

However, Trump has been unwaveringly strong throughout the 2023–2024 campaign, and he has the awards to show it.

The first four frames of the German Masters final were evenly split between the two players.

But Trump took control of the match after the mid-session break, winning three frames on the spin to take a 5-2 lead.

Si, who was playing in his first-ever ranking event final, prevailed in the final frame of the opening session to maintain contact.

The 21-year-old then got off to a fantastic start in the evening match, putting together a fantastic 123 century break to cut the deficit to one.

Despite this, Trump appeared to be inspired by his youthful opponent’s

ascent to the top of the standings as he put together three quick frames with contributions of 113, 108, and 74

Si made a brief comeback with a run of 64, but the Chinese player was unable to hold off the formidable opposition.

As expected, Trump won the last two frames, breaking for 66 and 81 respectively.

Apart from the £80,000 champion’s check that he received for winning this

tournament, Trump also collected the £150,000 BetVictor European Series bonus.

The world number two is already too far ahead in the standings to catch, even

with the Welsh Open still to come in that eight-event swing.

Trump’s confidence will soar after winning another ranking title, and his own record of six in a single campaign may be in jeopardy.

Ronnie O’Sullivan congratulated him for winning his third German Masters title
