When the Atlanta Falcons hired Raheem Morris as their new head coach, it was

expected that he would bring with him at least two Los Angeles Rams assistants.

As it turned out, Morris was joined in Atlanta by several former Rams staff

members, including Jimmy Lake, his new defensive coordinator, and offensive assistants KJ Black and Nick Jones.

However, arguably the most significant addition to his staff was former Rams

passing coordinator and quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson, whom he hired as the Falcons’ new offensive coordinator.

“I was around Kyle Shanahan when he was young and saw him develop,” Morris said. “I saw Sean McVay when he was

very young and witnessed his development. Start naming names: Mike McDaniel, Steve Sarkisian… I see them in the same light.”

Robinson deserves high praise for being compared to two of the best offensive

play-callers in the league today, Rams McVay and 49ers Shanahan. Morris noted that he worked with each of them.

His first stint in Atlanta, under then-coach Dan Quinn, saw him spend two years (2015-16) working alongside

Shanahan, who was the offensive coordinator before taking his current position with the Niners.

Fast forward a few years, and Morris worked as McVay’s defensive coordinator for three seasons in Los Angeles.

If that isn’t a strong enough endorsement, the fact that Morris has given Robinson arguably the most

important position on his coaching staff should demonstrate how highly regarded the 37-year-old is.
