‘THE BEST’… GABRIEL AGBONLAHOR SAYS PLAYER ARSENAL SOLD FOR £17M IS NOW WORLD CLASS

Regarding Emiliano Martinez, the goalkeeper for Aston Villa, who Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, felt wasn’t good enough to start for the Gunners on a regular basis, Gabriel Agbonlahor has made some significant claims.

Martinez, a talkSPORT analyst and former Villa striker, claims to be the world’s best goalkeeper.

So, what has Gabriel Agbonlahor said about former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez? Let’s take a look.

Emiliano Martinez flourishing after Arsenal exit

Well, Emiliano Martinez has gone from strength to strength since leaving Arsenal for Aston Villa in the summer of 2020.

Martinez hardly ever featured for Arsenal until his final season when he got the chance due to an injury to Bernd Leno.

Unfortunately for Martinez, Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, chose to reassign the German goalkeeper, who is currently at Fulham, as his starting goalkeeper once Leno recovered fully.

In the summer of 2020, Martinez—who is highly regarded by Cristian Romero, the center-back for Argentina and Tottenham Hotspur—left for Premier League rivals Villa for a fee of £17 million (Sky Sports).

Since then, the goalie has developed greatly and is enjoying an incredible career. Along with Argentina, he won the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Martinez, who has been compared to Jens Lehmann, was awarded the Yashin

Trophy in 2023 and the Best FIFA Goalkeeper in 2022.

Gabriel Agbonlahor gives his verdict on Emiliano Martinez

Although many of us concur that Emiliano Martinez is among the world’s top goalkeepers, Gabriel Agbonlahor has asserted his superiority.

The 31-year-old, in the opinion of the former Aston Villa striker, is the best goalie of his position and a world-class player.

When asked if Martinez is the finest goalkeeper in the Premier League, Agbonlahor responded, “I think he is,” on talkSPORT. I get asked, “Why do you say that?” by others.

“He is the best goalkeeper in the world, it’s not rocket science, he won the World Cup, and his performances at Aston Villa have shown that,” I added. “One, he won the best goalkeeper in the world, won the World Cup, won that award.”

“I believe that in a previous game, he was pinging balls straight to Matty Cash, the right-back, with his left foot, which is why he makes some of the saves. He is also a presence. In my opinion, he is the world’s best goalie.

Agbonlahor is not my opinion. Martinez is unquestionably a very excellent goalie, but Ederson and Alisson are superior.

The two greatest are Ederson of Manchester City and Alisson of Liverpool Premier League goalkeepers.

Three goalkeepers who are superior to Martinez are Manuel Neuer, Jan Oblak, and Thibaut Courtois, if you go outside of the Premier League.
