Calvin Johnson, the Detroit Lions’ superstar wide receiver, announced his retirement after nine seasons in the NFL,

Johnson’s retirement also served as a catalyst for the eventual trade that sent

Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles and Jared Goff to Detroit.

Goff was once regarded as a washed-up first-round overall pick, but after

working with Ben Johnson and a roster loaded with offensive talent, the

quarterback has resurrected his career, and the Lions should be contenders again in 2024.

Despite his injuries, Megatron continued to produce at an elite level, missing only nine games in his career. The 30-year-old

was one of his generation’s best receivers, with 731 receptions for 11,619 yards and 83 touchdowns.

In an era when opiates are causing more addiction issues than at any other time in

American history, it’s refreshing to see Calvin Johnson ahead of the curve while with the Detroit Lions.

The NFL used to punish players for smoking marijuana, but has recently changed the rule so that they can no

longer face suspension, fines, or any other discipline for having weed in their system.
