‘Not too bad’ – Daniel Farke provides update on Leeds United star after injury scare

Following an injury scare against Plymouth Argyle yesterday evening, Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto was substituted out. Manager Daniel Farke is now updating the Yorkshire Evening Post.

In the FA Cup fourth round rematch at Home Park, Leeds United defeated Plymouth Argyle, but they had to play

longer. After halftime, the Whites were up 1-1, but they didn’t let up and added

three more goals to secure their spot in the next round.

The night before Brendon Galloway’s equalizer, Gnonto opened the score. With his winner against Bristol City last week, the Italian has now scored in back-to-back games. But the 20-year-old was replaced four minutes after he scored because of what appeared to be an injury.

It appears that the substitution was made as a precaution, nevertheless. Leeds United manager Brian Farke stated in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post that he should be well and available for Saturday’s Elland Road matchup with Rotherham United.

“He was hit on his foot, even just before the goal, but he was there with a clean and clinical finish,” he remarked.

“Just a small bruise, nothing serious, should be fine for Saturday.”

A huge boost for Leeds United

Gnonto saw a major decrease in playing time during the season’s first half. The main cause of this was the uncertainty surrounding his future with the team. But now that issue is resolved, he is firmly establishing himself as a key player on the starting squad.

In their most recent Championship game against Bristol City, he kept Joel Piroe off the field, so this is a great vote of confidence from Farke. This is a tremendous boost to have Gnonto healthy and available for selection before their next match.

Without a doubt, they want to finish in the top two at the end of the season. Gnonto will undoubtedly benefit Leeds United, as they will need their top players to be accessible and effective, and he now meets both of those requirements.
