De’Von Achane had an outstanding rookie campaign, which is fantastic for

the Miami Dolphins because his fellow rookie colleagues didn’t have much of an impact in 2023.

Many, including the PFF, who named the Texas A&M graduate one of the top

names to watch for next season, think that the player is just getting started because of his breakout year.

After registering over 800 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, one may argue that Achane’s debut season was a breakout, according to Jonathan Macri.

“The 2023 third-round pick could have a true breakout season with a heavier workload and a full season.”

The Miami Dolphins rookie season of De’Von Achane

The primary reason De’Von Achane is commended is his effectiveness in his first NFL season. He amassed 800

running yards and eight touchdowns in 11 regular-season games, setting a record of 7.8 yards per carry. Even if the figures are outstanding on their own, it’s even more remarkable considering that he

accomplished this on just 119 offensive snaps over the course of just four starts while playing behind Raheem Mostert.

His assistance allowed the Miami Dolphins to finish second in the AFC East with an 11-6 record, which qualified

them for the NFL playoffs. However, they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 26-7 in the wild-card round.

Regretfully, Achane had to cope with injuries during his rookie season. When he was put on the team’s injured reserve

in October of last year, he lost out on opportunities to play offensively and showcase his skills.

Miami Dolphins’ one-two RB combination is quite effective.

The Miami Dolphins now have two running backs whom they can depend on in De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert.

With 4.8 yards per run in 2023, Mostert amassed 1,012 rushing yards and a career-high 18 touchdowns.

Although Raheem Mostert is still productive in his position, he will turn 32

in April and could benefit from a reduced workload going forward. This is where someone like De’Von Achane can help.
