Sad news:Leeds United have been saddened to learn of the passing of former forward

RIP IAN LAWSON (1939-2024)

Peace be with you.

The news of Ian Lawson’s passing at the age of 84 has been deeply felt by Leeds United.

when starting his career with Burnley, Lawson signed a £20,000 contract with the Whites in 1962 when Don Revie saw Leeds struggle in the Second Division.

He created history with the team in 1963–1964 when he was a member of the team that won the Second Division title—a feat that was only accomplished twice in the club’s existence.

With 11 goals in 24 league games, Lawson was a major contributor to the

championship-winning campaign that saw the Whites promoted back to the

First Division and laid the groundwork for what would eventually become the

greatest period of success in the club’s existence.

In 1965, he left to join Crystal Palace and later had spells at Barnsley and Port Vale.

During his tenure at Elland Road, he made 51 appearances across all competitions, tallying 21 goals.

Everyone is thinking of Ian and his wife Maureen, daughter Sharon, and son

Michael, as well as his relatives and friends.
