Unbelievable:Leeds United player ratings vs Rotherham as two showed their worth
|Leeds United player ratings as Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter good vs Rotherham
Leeds United recorded their sixth straight Championship win against
bottom of the table Rotherham United at Elland Road and here are how the players rated in the 3-0 victory
Leeds United defeated Rotherham United 3-0 at Elland Road to continue their winning streak.
In the tenth minute, Patrick Bamford scored the first goal by putting Junior
Firpo’s cross in at the near post. Following the interval, Georginio Rutter
let Crysencio Summerville through for a deserved double for dominant Leeds,
and an hour later, the Dutchman scored a third from the penalty spot.
These are the players’ ratings.
Illan Meslier Was having the quietest afternoon imaginable up until the
closing stages, where he ensured his side kept a clean sheet with two big saves.
Also made an important early punch to deal with Rotherham’s first corner. 7
Archie Gray You can see why Connor Roberts has not walked into the side. Dealt with Sebastian Revan effortlessly. 7
Joe Rodon Key role in build-up to first goal after stepping into midfield. Did not have much to do but swatted away a rare
Rotherham cross in the 12th minute. Perhaps it said it all that frustrated
striker Jordan Hugill resorted to an awful tackle on him. 7
Ethan Ampadu Superb ball over the top sent Patrick Bamford in only for the
striker to take a heavy touch. Rock solid. 7
Junior Firpo Set up the opening goal with a smart cross that Rotherham failed
to deal with. Also laid on what should have been a second assist for Summerville in first half. 7
Ilia Gruev Made one crucial tackle to stop a Rotherham counter-attack in its
tracks after the half-hour mark. Quietly went about his business. 7
Glen Kamara Played his part in Leeds’ opener by slipping Firpo in on the
overlap. Poor back pass caused an unnecessarily nervy moment at the start of second half. 6.
Wilfried Gnonto Tireless. Constantly ran at Rotherham’s defence, going close just
before half-time, and also had a penalty appeal waved away. Fired wide late on.
Did the ugly work, too, and got back to help his team-mates. 7
Georginio Rutter Looked in the mood from the off and constantly tried to make
things happen. Showed real strength to ride a tackle and create Leeds’ second with a clever pass through the legs. 7
Crysencio Summerville Had a glorious opportunity to double Leeds’ advantage
midway through the first half, but, somehow, blazed over. Did not let it
affect him and popped up with Leeds’ second, finishing coolly. Panenka penalty
was superb. Handed a standing ovation. 8
Patrick Bamford Showed poacher’s instincts at the near post for Leeds’ opener – even if Rotherham felt it was a
handball. Hit woodwork and had chances to score more. 7
