Daniel Farke ‘always sure’ Crysencio Summerville would reach potential at Leeds United

The young Dutch forward bagged another brace as Leeds United cruised past Rotherham

Daniel Farke was “100% sure” that Crysencio Summerville had what it took to succeed at Leeds United. The Dutch striker scored two more goals in the Whites’ convincing 3-0 victory over Rotherham United, bringing his season total to 15.

The 22-year-old scored the game’s final goal for the home team after converting a Panenka-style penalty after Georginio

Rutter’s throughball put them up 2-0. Summerville, who briefly appeared to be

able to depart Elland Road last summer, will be crucial to Leeds’ hopes of being

promoted back to the Premier League on their first attempt.

But Farke has never doubted that he would fulfill his potential and that Leeds

would witness his best qualities; he attributes this to his job at Thorp Arch.

“I always had complete faith in his ability to perform,” Farke remarked following Summerville’s two-goal effort. “All the credit goes to him because he’s also relentless in training and has worked a lot on his finishing.”

Farke grinned and said, “I’m a bit more old fashioned – I would rather have the ball in the corner!” in reference to the penalty.

After joining from Burnley on transfer deadline day, Patrick Roberts made his Leeds United debut by substituting in the second half. Farke was happy that the Welsh international had finally gained some playing time.

“It was good for him that the game was more or less done when he came in,” he said. “You could see his zeal and he could shine with his passing. An excellent start to his life at Leeds United.”
