Done deal: Phillies has announced a deal for long term target of an incredible, talented player

Phillies, pitcher Spencer Turnbull reach 1-year contract

The Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Spencer Turnbull agreed to a one-year contract on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida.

In seven starts for Detroit the previous season, Turnbull went 1-4 with a 7.26 ERA. After undergoing Tommy John surgery on July 29, 2021, the 31-year-old made his major league debut on April 1. Because of stiffness in his neck, he did not pitch after May 6.

On May 18, 2021, Turnbull made his only complete game in 60 major league starts as he pitched a no-hitter against Seattle. He was a 2014 second-round draft selection by the Tigers, and in five seasons with Detroit, he finished 12-29 with a 4.55 ERA.

The Tigers declined to extend an offer for a 2024 deal, therefore in November he became a free agent.

Right-hander McKinley Moore of Philadelphia was assigned to open a roster spot.
