‘Honestly’… Danny Murphy makes claim about Leeds United and how he feels about them

TalkSPORT analyst Danny Murphy has opened up about whether or not he would support Leeds United’s promotion.

Leeds, who won 4-0 against Swansea City yesterday night to extend their winning streak to seven games, are expected to finish a Championship game week in the top two for the first time this year.

Following a challenging beginning to the season and the intense first half of campaigns from Ipswich Town and Leicester City, Leeds have been catching up since August.

But Leeds now hold the second automatic promotion slot and are the

team to watch after Southampton’s 22-match undefeated streak ended at Bristol City.

Murphy stated on talkSPORT yesterday that he would like to see the Whites

promoted because of the club’s heritage and supporter base, especially because Leeds currently holds the top two spots.

He said: “Credit to Daniel Farke. They had a really tough start with the ins and outs, who’s staying and going, and I think they lost two or three of the first six. The Premier League is better if Leeds are in it, honestly.

“As a player and a supporter, going there is an experience that you should enjoy and love. It is rammed every time you go there [Elland Road], they are really passionate about their team, and to go there as a player or fan, is a really good experience – better than others that are potentially coming up.

“As a football man, I want Leeds to go up.”

Murphy is not the first pundit to make such a claim in the past 24 hours; on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan stated that he would rather see Leeds promoted than Southampton.

Leeds are the favorites because they have Crysencio Summerville in their

lineup, according to former Queens Park Rangers manager Gareth Ainsworth,

who was commenting on the game for Sky Sports.

The level at the top means that there is undoubtedly still a long way to go and

that Leeds will require an unbelievable point total to guarantee a second-place finish.
