‘Missing’ – Phil Hay shares why unexpected Leeds absentee isn’t in squad v Plymouth Argyle

Jaidon Anthony absence from Leeds United squad at Plymouth Argyle explained – Phil Hay

Phil Hay reports that Jaidon Anthony is not playing for Leeds United against Plymouth Argyle because of personal reasons as opposed to an injury.

The Whites attacker wasn’t part of the 20-person traveling party, so the Athletic journalist tweeted the information on February 17 ahead of kickoff at Home Park.

After scoring in last month’s 1-1 draw at Elland Road against the Pilgrims, Anthony, 24, paid tribute to his mother, who passed away lately [Daily Mail, 27 January].

Hay wrote: “Leeds’ starting line-up unchanged. No Jaidon Anthony today, missing for personal reasons.”

Anthony absence from Leeds United squad not due to injury

Thoughts will be with Anthony after the difficult time the Bournemouth loanee and his family have been through of late.

Whatever is happening in-season the players are also individuals who have personal lives outside football which are ultimately most important.

Still, with his team’s exceptional strength, Daniel Farke would probably be confident of the intended outcome at the end of the lengthy journey down to Plymouth.

Dan James is back from injury after nearly matching the Dutchman for weeks before his layoff, and he has Crysencio Summerville, one of the stars in the Championship, to rely on.

Since the beginning of 2024, Willy Gnonto—who is always connected to the exit—has filled in for the Welsh

international, scoring four goals in six starts, including the 4-1 FA Cup victory

during the team’s most recent visit to Home Park on February 6.

Although the players are in great form and have a lot of confidence, Farke is

also missing Patrick Bamford, who has been playing really well since the New

Year. As a result, the players will need to maintain their winning streak.

It will be hoped that Anthony is well and can return to the team as soon as is practical.
