Daniel Farke confirms massive injury blow ahead of the Leicester City fixture.

 

Leeds United will be without Patrick Bamford for Friday’s game against

Leicester City after the striker was sidelined for another 10 days with a calf injury.

The attacker, who has five goals this season, missed Saturday’s Championship match against Plymouth Argyle, and

manager Daniel Farke admits he does not expect him to be fit in time for the league leaders’ visit.

 

Farke commented on Bamford’s condition on Friday, stating, “He is experiencing some calf issues. We anticipate a short absence from play. It’s unlikely he’ll be ready for the Leicester match. We’re aiming for his return in either the cup game or the subsequent league fixture.”

Bamford has been in good form since the turn of the year, scoring in four of his six Championship matches since New Year’s Day. He missed the midweek 4-0 victory over Swansea City due to his injury, and his manager does not expect him to return until the club’s FA Cup match against AFC Bournemouth later this month.

 

Bamford has only scored once in nine past encounters against Leicester. Additionally, left-back Sam Byram and two others are also expected to miss the match against Leicester. However, Leeds will see the return of another defender this week.

 

Farke further explained, “Sam (Byram) is dealing with hamstring problems and won’t be available for this match or the Leicester game. Jamie Shackleton is back and ready to play. It’s reassuring to have one more player available. Stuart [Dallas] and Pascal [Struijk] are sidelined, but everyone else
