So sad :Chiefs veteran opens up about playing Super Bowl with a notable injury

Chiefs veteran opens up about playing Super Bowl with a notable injury.

Because the Super Bowl is the final game of the season, a number of players choose to play through an injury knowing they will have the entire offseason to recover.

This was the case for Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Nick Allegretti, who played the majority of the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers last weekend with a torn UCL in his arm.

Allegretti recently appeared on “The Jim Rome Show” to discuss how he was able to play despite his injury.

“It was one of those things where I could use the arm with confidence because I knew the UCL was most likely already gone and I wasn’t going to tear it any more. So if I could deal with the pain, I could play

Allegretti is typically a backup offensive lineman for the Chiefs, but he was called up to the starting lineup for the Super Bowl after Kansas City’s starting left

guard, Joe Thuney, suffered a pectoral injury during the team’s divisional round playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills.

If Allegretti was unable to play due to his injury, the Chiefs would have had to rely

on a third-string offensive lineman to face a 49ers defensive line that was ranked among the best in the NFL in 2023.

Fortunately for Kansas City, he was able to overcome the UCL injury, and he’ll

always have a story to tell about how he helped the Chiefs win the Super Bowl despite suffering a serious arm injury.

Allegretti’s efforts last weekend were greatly appreciated by Kansas City, which now has the opportunity to

become the first franchise in NFL history to win a Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons in 2024.
