Sunderland is set to bench a £15k-per-week star who makes twice as much as Bellingham

Sunderland could axe £15k-p/w star who earns double Bellingham’s wage

Sunderland will look to get rid of this high earner soon.

Sunderland’s inconsistent play reared its ugly head once more away in Birmingham. Following a three-game winning streak, the Black Cats now sit winless in their previous two games at St Andrew’s.

Tony Mowbray’s Blues overcame a late surge of goals in the second half to defeat the hit-and-miss Wearside squad, who now lie in tenth place in the Championship. The victory was narrow for the former Sunderland manager and his new team.

Many of his first-team players will severely disappoint Michael Beale, but

he will be especially irritated by this Sunderland player who hasn’t played a

minute for the faltering Black Cats this season.

Given the player’s current high salary, people with ties to Sunderland may want

to sell him soon in order to reduce the pay cost and permanently remove this dud from the records.

Bradley Dack’s salary at Sunderland

Bradley Dack is currently earning a hefty £15k-per-week salary, an arguably extortionate amount of money for the 30-year-old midfielder to be raking in considering his on-the-fringes presence at the Stadium of Light.

Battling with a number of well-publicised injury demons at Blackburn Rovers, Dack’s bad luck when it comes to picking up knocks did, unfortunately, follow him to Sunderland early into his Black Cats career and continues to hinder him – the 5 foot 9 creator missing for most of September and October as a permanent fixture in the treatment room.

Dack has only scored once in 13 games since moving from Blackburn to Wearside, and his last game was on Boxing Day against Hull City last year. He is currently out again due to injury.

Dack’s brief stay at the Stadium of Light may come to an end soon because Sunderland is more willing to give young players like Jobe Bellingham the opportunity to shine in attacking midfield positions. This is especially true if he keeps causing the Championship club to lose games due to injuries.

Surprisingly, Dack, 30, makes more money than the previously mentioned Bellingham, with more than twice as much as the erstwhile adolescent sensation from Birmingham City.

Bradley Dack’s salary compared to the Sunderland squad

Dack, when comparing his wage to the rest of the Black Cats camp, comes in as the joint second-highest earner currently at the football club.

Jack Clarke only beats Dack just – with the 15-goal star deserving of his top £16.9k wage – whilst Daniel Ballard ties with Dack at £15k-per-week according to Capology.

Sunderland’s top earners – 2023-24
1. Jack Clarke £16.9k
2. Daniel Ballard £15k
3. Bradley Dack £15k
4. Patrick Roberts £12.5k
5. Anthony Patterson £10k

Unexpectedly, Bellingham, who has five goals and one assist to his name this season, only receives a paltry £6.5k a week in compensation, while Dack receives a far larger salary.

Beale recently hinted that Dack might bounce back from his latest setback, so it’s time for the former Blackburn player to prove to the irate Sunderland supporters that his generous salary isn’t that out of line when he performs well enough.

When Dack was at his best, he would routinely light up second-tier defenses for his previous Lancashire employers. The attacking midfielder scored 15 goals for the Riversiders in the 2018–19 season.

However, since Dack is still prone to injuries, Sunderland may decide that cutting their links with the 5’9″ midfielder is the best course of action in order to later look for some younger players who are more suitable.
