Breaking news: Atlanta Falcons are declared favorites to sign star player in free agency

Falcons are betting favorites to sign Kirk Cousins in free agency, if he leaves Vikings

This offseason, Justin Fields has been associated with the Falcons more than any other quarterback, but Kirk Cousins may be the more likely candidate.

The Falcons were close behind the Bears with +140 chances when DraftKings first posted its opening odds for Justin Fields’ next team in 2024, but those odds have since changed.

They have chosen to support the Pittsburgh Steelers, a different team. After opening at +550, Arthur Smith’s new team is now the favorite to land Justin Fields at -125 odds.

However, DraftKings odds indicate that the Falcons have the best chance to sign Kirk Cousins in the event that the Vikings are unable to come to an agreement with the soon-to-be free agent.

Atlanta is the non-Minnesota favorite at +300, but the Vikings are still the favorites at -200. Next up are the Raiders at +800 and a trip back to Washington at +500. Both the Patriots and the Titans are at +1200.and +1600 is the Steelers’ position.

For a few reasons, a return to the Vikings might not appear as appealing as it might to the Falcons. Just as Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell, new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson also received training from Sean McVay. Thus, the system’s familiarity is appealing. The Atlanta talent group, which is led by Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Bijan Robinson, is particularly alluring.

Furthermore, the NFC South is far more winnable than the NFC North, which includes the Bears, who are still rebuilding but have more resources than any other team to improve this offseason, and two playoff teams from 2023 in the Packers and Lions.

From a personal standpoint, he most likely keeps an eye on the Falcons because his wife was raised in the metro region and her parents appear to still reside there. Although they have lived in Minnesota for the past six years, they are not entirely unfamiliar with Atlanta.

The Falcons were odds-on favorites to win their division the following season.

The team would be competitive in 2024 even if it wouldn’t solve the

organization’s long-term quarterback shortage. The Falcons could then focus

on the cycles of 2025 and 2026 or perhaps even double dip this offseason.
