Injury update:Daniel Farke reveals key that will be sideline ahead of Leicester City clash due to injury

Daniel Farke reveals key that will be sideline ahead of Leicester City clash due to injury

Leicester City are gearing up for a crucial showdown against Leeds United in the Championship.

Enzo Maresca’s team is aiming to bounce back after a defeat to Middlesbrough over the weekend. Despite the setback,

the Foxes currently hold a nine-point lead over Leeds. However, this gap could narrow when they face Daniel Farke’s side at Elland Road on Friday night.

Leeds recently secured a 2-0 victory against Plymouth in their fifth match within 15 days, posing a challenge for Farke in managing their squad. The

Leeds manager has acknowledged the demanding schedule and anticipates being without five players for the clash against City.

Similar to Leicester, Leeds boasts a strong lineup of forwards, with Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter finding the net against Plymouth alongside Crysencio Summerville. However, Farke

has confirmed that striker Patrick Bamford will be unavailable for the match against Leicester due to a calf injury sustained during the warm-up

before the Swansea City game. Farke expressed uncertainty about Bamford’s return, stating, “We expect him to be out not too long. I don’t expect he’ll be back

for the upcoming game against Leicester. It would be a nice positive surprise if he could,” during last week’s press conference.

Furthermore, Farke revealed that full-back Sam Byram will also miss the clash with City due to a hamstring issue, having been sidelined for the past two

games. Defender Pascal Struijk is also unavailable due to an adductor problem, with Farke mentioning, “With Pascal, he will undergo an important re-scan at the

beginning of next week, and doctors will decide if he can increase his training load. We’ll have a clearer view next week.”

Both defenders were regular fixtures in the Leeds team, but Struijk’s absence prompted Farke to reassess his lineup. Following the centre-back’s injury, holding midfielder Ethan Ampadu has been partnering Joe Rodon in the heart of the defense.

Additionally, backup goalkeeper Karl Darlow is anticipated to regain fitness in the upcoming weeks. However, there is still no set timeline for Stuart Dallas to return to full fitness. The Northern Irishman has been sidelined since sustaining a femoral fracture in April 2022.

Regarding Dallas’s recovery, Farke emphasized, “Stuart gets all the time he needs. It’s not possible to provide a

specific timeframe as he continues to consult with various specialists and explore all avenues to ensure the most

professional approach to his rehabilitation. We don’t want to impose any pressure by setting a deadline.”
