Sad News as Kansas city chiefs players and coaches have been shut dead

Two men are charged with murder in the parade shooting.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that two men have been charged with murder following a deadly shooting near the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade last week. The shooting resulted in one death and 22 injuries.

According to the AP, both adults are charged with second-degree murder and have been hospitalized, Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said Tuesday. Three people, including two juveniles, were initially detained last week, and police said firearms were discovered during the chaos. On Friday, authorities announced that the two juveniles had been charged with crimes related to the shooting. The juveniles are being held in Jackson County’s Juvenile Detention Center “on gun-related and resisting arrest charges,” according to a Jackson County Family Court news release.

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said the 22 people injured in the shooting ranged in age from 8 to 47 years old, with half of them under the age of 16. A mother of two was also killed. Shots were fired west of Union Station, near the garage.

The court in Jackson County had “anticipated that additional charges (would be filed) in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues.”

Following an investigation into the shooting, Graves stated that the incident “appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire,” according to NFL Media.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother and well-known radio DJ in Kansas City, was killed.

According to Kansas City Fire Department chief Ross Grundyson, eight victims suffered “immediately” life-threatening injuries, seven had life-threatening injuries, and six had minor injuries.

According to officials at Children’s Mercy Hospital, 12 children are being treated, with nine of them suffering from gunshot wounds. None were in critical condition, and everyone was expected to recover. According to KSHB 41 News, all patients were released from the hospital as of Saturday morning.

As soon as the rally ended, shots were fired on the west side of Union Station. Officers responded quickly and worked to clear the station itself.

“We are deeply saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station following

today’s parade and rally,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the entire Kansas City community. We are in close contact with the Mayor’s office and the

Kansas City Police Department. At this time, we can confirm that all of our players, coaches, staff, and families are safe and sound. We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on the scene to help.”

The Kansas City Police Department issued a statement regarding the situation (via CBS News):

“At the end of the rally, shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage, striking several people. Two armed people have been detained for further investigation. We need people to leave the area as quickly and safely as

possible, avoiding the parking garage, so that shooting victims can be treated. Many of you have footage of officers securing Union Station; they are working to ensure everyone’s safety and to expedite care for those injured.”

Police said that multiple people needed reunification, so they set up “child reunification stations.”

They directed any witnesses of the shooting to the “southwest corner of Pershing and Main.”
