Sad news:RAms are very confuse on Vikings Justin Jefferson trade

RAms are very confuse on Justin Jefferson tradeĀ

The Los Angeles Rams have many needs. LA’s addition of another wide receiver would most likely be last on that list.

That is why I ask: “Should the Rams trade the Minnesota Vikings for Justin Jefferson?” The short answer is likely to

be “No.” Les Snead and Sean McVay should investigate every possibility. There is no guarantee that the Vikings will be open to trading the star 24-year-

old, but he has yet to sign a long-term contract. Until Jefferson secures his bag, there will be plenty of speculation as to where JJeta ends up.

The Vikings are entering the offseason with a lot of questions. Kirk Cousins has been the starting quarterback. He is

coming off a torn achilles and will be looking for a new contract because he is currently unsigned. Neither Skol Nation nor Cousins have agreed to any new terms.

Jefferson hopes to “break the bank” with his new deal. Could the Vikings find a way to retain Jefferson and Cousins?

Maybe, but as things stand, the Vikings may have to choose between the two. Who are they prioritizing? I’d guess

Jefferson because he’s younger, but O’Connell may choose to give Cousins another season rather than start over with a new quarterback.

The Vikings are unique in that they could let Jefferson walk while still potentially having Jordan Addison as their number one wide receiver. The emergence of

Addison may make Jefferson more expendable. Last year, Addison had a strong rookie season, but it was overshadowed by Puka Nacua, the Rams rookie

.Coincidentally, Nacua and Addison are both entering their sophomore seasons in the NFL. Going into next season, the Rams and Vikings will each have two phenomenal star wide receivers. The

Vikings, as previously mentioned, have Addison and Jefferson. The Rams have both Nacua and Cooper Kupp.

The fact that Kupp is 30 and has already been paid distinguishes the two franchises. Jefferson’s rookie contract is

about to expire, and he’s looking for his first big-time contract in order to “break the bank.” Another difference is that the

Rams appear to be ready to roll with Matthew Stafford, whereas the Vikings may still be figuring out what they can do at quarterback.

As unlikely as it may seem, the Rams and Vikings could make a swap. If Los Angeles wants to trade Kupp, they should, in the words of the former Governor, “do it now!” I’m not advocating for LA to trade Kupp, but if they’re thinking about it, they should do it now while Kupp still has plenty of value. Trading Kupp for Jefferson does not seem like the worst idea to me.

Why would the Vikings want to do this? The Vikings’ head coach is Kevin O’Connell. He served as the offensive coordinator in Los Angeles during Cupp’s most successful seasons. Would Kupp and O’Connell be willing to reunite? LA would most likely have to throw some draft capital in there as well, but with Jefferson looking for a new contract, Snead may have some leverage to keep his higher-value picks. With the emergence of Nacua, the Rams may consider trading Kupp as long as they believe they will receive another starting elite player, like Jefferson, in exchange.
