Done deal:Falcons have won the battle for a free agent

Falcons have won the battle for Calvin Ridley

The Atlanta Falcons aim to strengthen their roster following a less-than-ideal

performance in 2023, with a 7-10 regular-season record. The team has expressed interest in acquiring

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley during NFL Free Agency, and they are the frontrunners to secure him if he departs from Jacksonville.

Calvin Ridley, coming off a productive 2023 season, is set to enter free agency after accumulating 1,016 yards, six touchdown passes, and 76 receptions at

the age of 29. While Jacksonville wishes to retain Ridley, especially as a key target for Trevor Lawrence, the Falcons hold the best odds to sign him if negotiations

with the Jaguars fall through, according to BetOnline. Other teams in contention include the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The potential addition of Ridley would enhance Atlanta’s receiving corps, led by second-year pro Drake London. These rumors align with the Falcons’

monitoring of Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, contemplating a trade scenario leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft.

Fields guided the Bears to a 7-10 record, the same as Atlanta. He threw for 2,562 yards and 16 touchdowns over 13 games. Falcons fans would be overjoyed if their team was able to sign him alongside Calvin Ridley.

Atlanta hopes to make the NFL playoffs again after missing out in 2023. Overall, it will be interesting to see what personnel changes the team makes before the 2024 season.
